“We are pleased to host this amazing memorial not only on behalf of the veterans of the Vietnam War, but of all those who have served our country. My hope is that this event will be an opportunity of healing and education for everyone in the community.”
- Rev. Paul A.M. Denault, O.Carm. Pastor - Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish
The Wall That Heals
Coming to Middletown / Wallkill
September 15th - 18th
The VVMF has multiple special events taking place at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in DC this month that we’d love for you to see you there, and share with your communities!
- Father Day at The Wall - On Father’s Day, we lay roses all around the Memorial site to honor fathers on The Wall, those that never had a chance to become fathers, and those fathers who served in Vietnam who returned home and later died. Each color rose has its own meaning and anyone can sponsor a rose to be laid at the Memorial site along with a personal message. For more information on Father’s Day at The Wall, go here: https://www.vvmf.org/fathers-
day/
- June is PTSD Awareness Month and the 27th is National PTSD Awareness Day. That evening, we’ll lay teal candles all around the Memorial site to honor those who returned home from Vietnam to fight another battle with PTSD. Anyone can sponsor a teal candle and a personal message to be placed at the Memorial that evening. We also offer PTSD Awareness shirts that you can wear in your community all year long to continue spreading awareness. For information on our PTSD Awareness efforts, go here: https://www.vvmf.org/PTSD-
Awareness/. And we encourage all of your communities to engage in your own PTSD Awareness efforts this month. Some ideas about things you can do are included on our page.
